Community Food Workshop Leader

The Community Food Workshop Leader is a newly created role to delivery cookery workshops across Levenshulme and Gorton, targeted at parents and families of young children. We are looking for a self-starter with a real passion for food. This is an opportunity for someone to make a project their own!

Job Description
• To lead cookery workshops with parents and young children both online and face to face in a community setting.
• To prepare, plan, record and evaluate cookery workshops for families and young children
• To deliver and develop the overall objectives of the First 1000 Days project
• To work with a variety of partners across the neighbourhood to develop and recruit to the project.
• Manage all marketing and communication for the project across all online and offline platforms.
• Lead and manage the health and safety of all workshop participants

Person Description (E = Essential, P = Preferred)

Experience
• Experience of leading or facilitating cookery workshops in the community E
• Ability to work on own initiative E
• Ability to work flexibly under pressure E
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) E
• Ability to keep written records in an accessible format (preferably using Microsoft Office) E
• To manage all budgets for the project and provide financial updates as required E
• Experience of coordinating Volunteers P
• Experience of coordination of marketing and communication for a project, including social media P

Knowledge
• Level 2 Food hygiene certificate E
• A vocational qualification/or demonstrable experience of working with young children P
• Understanding of healthy diets and nutrition in keeping with NHS guidelines E
• Understanding of working with a range of cultures and addressing the cultural needs of participants E

Skills
• Good practical knowledge and use of IT packages including Microsoft Office, databases, email and social media. P
• Good standard of verbal and written English E

Work related information:
The postholder is employed by Levenshulme Inspire and is funded by the First 1000 days grant
Until 31st March 2022
Hours of work: 30 hours to be worked flexibly, a job share would be considered.
Reports to the Community Food workshop steering group
The post holder will be required to have an enhanced DBS check
The postholder will be required to work within the vision and values of Levenshulme Inspire
Rate of Pay: £20,800 pro rata (£18000 actual)

Training and support to undertake the tasks of the role as agreed by the steering group
A thorough induction to the post
To receive regular supervision via the steering group
