Inspire Forum Community Share Offer

We want to put the building into the hands of the community by allowing people to buy shares in the new centre. For just a fiver, you can own a stake in the new building and become a member of the Inspire Forum.

Most of us are not used to buying and selling shares but in this case you can take your money out again and after two years you will start to be paid interest on your shares.

The benefit to the Inspire Centre is that all the money you invest in shares can be used to equip and run the centre. You are investing in a good cause. The benefit to you – as a shareholder – is that you can have a say in how the centre is run … you can get paid a dividend and you can get your money back!

Organisations can invest in shares too. We are hoping that church partners, philanthropists and even grant-making bodies might consider making a significant investment in the scheme by becoming large shareholders. The maximum shareholding is £20,000. Do contact ed.cox@lev-inspire.org.uk if you would like to discuss this opportunity.

The benefits of becoming a shareholder

  • You automatically become a member of the Inspire Forum with the right to a voice and vote about how the Inspire Centre is run.
  • You get paid a dividend after two years.
  • Special rates for room hire and other centre activities.
  • Tickets to open days to explore the redevelopment, to the Centre Opening Event, and to other special occasions.
  • Your choice of a special “I’m part of something special” Inspire mug or T-shirt if you buy 3 shares or more.

Inspire Forum

By becoming a shareholder you become a member of the Inspire Forum. The Forum will meet regularly to discuss how the Inspire Centre is being run. Forum members will be able to suggest new activities and improvements to existing ones. The Forum will also provide an opportunity for local residents to discuss and debate matters of local concern. It will invite representatives from the Council, the police and other public services to hear our views and ideas on local issues. Forum members will also have the opportunity to stand as Directors of the Board.

What happens to your money?

If you become a shareholder, you money will be placed in a deposit account and you will receive your share certificate. At the appropriate time, and with the approval of the Forum Board, your money will be tranferred as a bond to the Levenshulme Inspire Partnership for investment in the building redevelopment. It will not be spent on anything else without your permission. If for some reason the project does not proceed, you will be offered your money back in full no later than December 2010.
