Over 80 children from Levenshulme and South Gorton came along to a giant children’s party to celebrate The Inspire Centre’s First Birthday on Saturday 30th October. The party got off to a great start with the Boys Brigade and their candyfloss machine, face-painting and different activities in the different rooms of the Centre from balloon sword-making, a bouncy castle and X-box competition. The party guests decorated their own mini-birthday cakes and all watched a packed Punch and Judy show with a litter theme. Everyone gathered together for a big photo round Inspire’s birthday cake, before going home with party bags. Other 1-year olds were VIP guests and Inspire will invite them back for a joint 2nd Birthday celebration next year. Centre Director Kate Chappell said “It’s amazing to think Inspire opened a whole year ago. Time has flown but we have had so many activities and events here over the past year. We’re looking forward to seeing how the Inspire Centre grows over the years and to keeping in touch with 1-year olds to see how they grow up tooâ€
The event was organised by Great Places Housing Group and was called ‘We Are One’ to show how the Inspire Centre brings people together from across the different communities in the area.
